Isla ignorada (2016/17)
Ignored Island explores the identity of the Spanish lesbian community throughout the stories of women coming from different backgrounds and generations. The combination of contemporary portraits and interviews shed some additional light to a number of recurrent issues and intends to contribute to the debate in a society like ours. Spain is one of the most advanced countries in Europe with regards to the rights and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community. Nevertheless, this project questions to what extent there is a real normalization in daily life. In addition, new realities are flourishing such as motherhood in same-sex couples, which still imply a challenge.
At this stage, I have created a newspaper that contains these portraits and interviews to 20 women and a Facebook page (@ignoredisland) in order to share relevant information for the community. I also started recording video with new testimonies. In the mid-term I would like to take advantage of the current technology to create a web documentary and collect historical data, statistics and of course to continue the project with new communities in different locations and countries.
Isla ignorada es un proyecto documental y social que explora la identidad de las lesbianas, partiendo de los testimonios de mujeres de distintas generaciones y lugares de origen. Se trata de un proyecto inclusivo y diverso, cuyo objetivo es generar un reflexión a partir de una serie de problemáticas en común.
En España, uno de los países más avanzados en materia de legislación pro LGTB, las lesbianas gozan de los mismos derechos que el resto de la población, con salvedades muy concretas que afectan a la maternidad y la filiación. No obstante, muchas ejercen sus derechos en la sombra. La invisibilidad se presenta en ocasiones como libre elección, cuando en realidad es el marcador de una salud social deficiente. Por tanto, consideramos la visibilidad una necesidad, no solo del colectivo lésbico, sino de la sociedad en general, que debería aspirar a la integración y salvaguarda de todos sus miembros. Isla ignorada pretende visibilizar a mujeres lesbianas, reflejar su diversidad y, en última instancia, ofrecer referentes positivos a quienes permanecen en la sombra para que salgan y ejerzan plenamente sus derechos, legales y naturales. Creemos en la necesidad de dejar de ser islas y convertirnos en un gran archipiélago, y para ello tomamos esta publicación como punto de partida:

Haciendo un guiño en su título a una de las obras más celebradas de Lewis Carroll, “Woundedland” reflexiona sobre los estados de ausencia recreados mediante paisajes mentales llenos de una belleza narcótica y a la vez inquietante.
El proyecto aborda la necesidad de hacerse invisible, la confrontación con uno mismo, la distorsión de la identidad y el cuestionamiento de lo que es real.

Making reference to one of Lewis Carroll’s most celebrated works, «Woundedland» reflects on the states of absence recreated by mental landscapes that are beautifully narcotic but disturbing at the same time.
The project addresses the need to become invisible, the confrontation with yourself, the distortion of identity and the questioning of what is real.

s/t de la serie «who was i then?» El 28 de marzo de 1941 Virginia Woolf nos dejó. Ella se dejó ir en las frías aguas del río Ouse pero antes de marcharse escribió estas palabras a Leonard Woolf:
«Dearest, I feel certain that I am going mad again. I feel we can’t go through another of those terrible times. And I shan’t recover this time. I begin to hear voices, and I can’t concentrate. So I am doing what seems the best thing to do. You have given me the greatest possible happiness. You have been in every way all that anyone could be. I don’t think two people could have been happier till this terrible disease came. I can’t fight any longer. I know that I am spoiling your life, that without me you could work. And you will I know. Struthiu Camelus (2012)
Este proyecto plantea una reflexión sobre la rutina en nuestra vida cotidiana a la vez que un interrogante sobre si estamos o no alcanzando nuestros sueños, si en realidad tenemos un control de nuestras vidas. «Struthio Camelus» (avestruz) sugiere un paralelismo entre este animal y las protagonistas de las imágenes, que esconden sus rostros como forma de evasión, tratando de huir de la realidad que les rodea.
